Run lean, always
Overhead is a tax on returns. We keep ours unusually low — and treat every operating dollar in your building the way we treat our own.
Est. 1989 · Chicago
Miles Management began with a few Chicago buildings and a family that ran them personally. Thirty-five years later, the portfolio is larger and the tools are modern — the standard hasn’t moved.
Our story
Miles Management Corp was founded in 1989, in a city that rewards people who take buildings seriously. Chicago real estate is unforgiving of neglect — winters test every roof and boiler, and tenants have plenty of choices. The firms that last here are the ones that show up.
We started as owners, not administrators. That origin still shapes everything: we manage every client property the way we manage our own — with tight operating budgets, trades we trust, tenants we know, and a deep suspicion of unnecessary expense.
Today the firm is led by the third generation of the same family, managing more than fifteen properties across residential, mixed-use, commercial, and industrial classes. We’ve added what a modern operation needs — most notably a proprietary technology platform we built ourselves — and kept what a family firm does best: continuity, accountability, and relationships measured in decades.
The through-line
1989
Miles Management Corp is founded in Chicago with a handful of residential buildings and a simple conviction: a property run with an owner’s care outperforms one run from a spreadsheet.
2004
Leadership passes to the second generation. The portfolio grows into mixed-use and commercial assets while the founding discipline — tight overhead, long tenancies — stays fixed.
2019
Rather than license generic software, the firm builds its own: an in-house platform for rent payments, leasing, e-signatures, and maintenance that cuts administrative cost across every building.
2023
The third generation of family leadership takes the helm — the same name on the door, managing several buildings the firm has looked after for over three decades.
How we operate
Overhead is a tax on returns. We keep ours unusually low — and treat every operating dollar in your building the way we treat our own.
We’re not built for quarterly optics. Long tenancies, durable buildings, and owner relationships that outlast market cycles are the whole strategy.
A firm large enough to have real operational scale, small enough that the person answering the phone knows your building by name.
